This problem was inspired by a visit to a distillery. The problem is a highly simplified version of what is actually done; in order to keep it simple.
Clive, thanks a lot once more! For me as "teetotaler" this insight into the process is complete surprise and makes impression of ancient craft and a bit of magic :)
