Quick results of the year 2022, just making few queries into database:
New users who solved at least 5 problems: 900+
.
Those of them who solved at least 25 problems: 300+
.
Total number of successful solutions: 37000+
. Ok, we know there are some cheaters, but still it is probably over 30
thousands. Hopefully it was of some use to people writing all these solutions :)
New problems: over 70
!
I believe the first task in 2022 had id=252
so it is, eh... 74
or 75
, including today's new small task in Forth.
This result needs additional attention however!
About half of these problems were created by our "community", not by me!
I counted 33
but probably some simply have authorship field still missing which I hope to fix in the nearest future!
It is great help - especially due to this year being somewhat annoying and sad one "in the outer world". It occurs to me even that some "trends" are established, like this:
Thanks a lot Friends for being with us! I keep looking forward in hope of some improvements - both to the site and to our poor world.
UPD: it's very interesting, the Forth problem had now its first solver - our recently joined colleague obviously targeting to the top: veen. It would be curious to know more about him/her in the future :)
Meanwhile I'll go and upload my solution for reference.
Happy new year and best wishes to everyone!
The rate of new problems added to the site is nothing but good news to the rest of us. It means greater problem diversity, for anyone's liking. Maybe the numbers show that the site has reached that critical mass point. Let's gather some more data, namely the beginning of next year, to talk safely about trends and paradigm shifts in the site's popularity, and in the mean time let's have some fun!
Thanks to everyone involved for their effort. It is highly appreciated!
Kostis, I hope that my puzzles haunt you in a good way! I have tried to design them so that they can be solved only after some careful thought and analysis of the problem. I try to avoid the need for any specialist knowledge so that the puzzles are accessible to anyone who makes the necessary effort to understand what is going on. I have tried to set puzzles which vary in difficulty so that people who cannot manage the hard ones can still have a good chance of solving the easier ones. I see that you have solved Ordered Brackets, which is one of the harder ones. I hope you felt very satisfied after completing the solution. There was quite a lot to sort out. If you want to try one of the easier puzzles try Next Palindrome. I hope you find some of my other puzzles enjoyable too. I certainly intend to produce more of them at regular intervals but hope that you don't lose too much sleep over them!
Happy New Year to everyone.
