Back to Introduce Yourself forum
Hello everyone. My name is Andrew. I am 37 years old and from Minsk, Belarus.
I'm a chartered Mechanical Engineer. I have been working as a design engineer in mechanical engineering for over 10 years. I am currently going to change the field of activity and go to IT. Began to study programming and in particular to learn the Python programming language. I recently found out about your wonderful resource. This is a great opportunity to practice.
Other interests other than programming in Python are cycling and tourism.
I will be glad to meet new people. Perhaps I can be something useful.
Andrew, Hi!
Thanks for sharing your story! I wonder, does "design engineer in mechanical engineering" means drawing whimsical parts and mechanisms in Autocad etc?
Also thanks to your kind words :) I guess the place is not exactly boiling with user activity nowadays, but hopefully it may be of some help...
Are you going to "migrate" to some specific field of IT, or for now you rather practice programming and language "in general" - in order to decide later?
Hi Radion and everyone else.
Sorry for the delay in answering.
Yes, you are absolutely right, my profession is just related to design machines, mechanisms, parts. You are also right, I worked in AutoCAD. But I have been working at Solid Works for several years now.
Regarding the activity of users, unfortunately. I'm sure everything will change for the better. After all, now the IT sector is gaining popularity. Your resource this is great practice. Perhaps some kind of promotion would help here on other resources such as YouTube, etc.
At the moment, I consider testing as the main direction. In the future, I plan to go into development. At the university (BNTU) we also studied programming a little. That was interesting. Also opened for many very interesting areas in IT, for example BIG date, AI, etc.
Thank you for your kind words and interest. This is definitely nice.
P.S. I apologize for my English and some confusion. My English is not very good at for today but I'm working on it)))
