Partly to celebrate the 2 years milestone of the site, we are going to have few more certificate types. Here come two:
Mason
- granted for contributing code related with
CodeAbbey functionality.
and Evangelist
- for writing articles to respected journals and
other resources mentioning the site
Updated Benefactor
- for monetary donations
I hope they do not look too stupid or offensive? My friend who designed them have somewhat special taste in art...
Please also make me know if the wordings are clumsy or have mistakes and should be improved.
DO NOT HESITATE to claim the certificate of any of those new kinds if you think you deserve it - for I know there are such people, but I do not always know the names - and moreover I could not always trace efforts of our voluntary "evangelists". For example it would be good to grant a paper to YetAnotherMinion who created the service with profile banners for us...
Those are pretty nice.
The part where the Evangelist one says "...ultimately save their precious souls" sounds a bit weird. I know saving souls is keeping with the "Abbey" theme, but I think that something about "perfecting our skills", "deepening our knowledge" or "mastering our craft" might be better.
As for the art, it is very nice. Maybe the evangelist could have some kind of banner hanging from the top stick (to hide the nudity); I think the art represents a "soaring spirit" or similar, but with nudity of any kind, someone somewhere is bound to get offended.
There could be a "Scribe" certificate for those who have done 30 or more translations. That might give me some incentive to push on with that rather boring task. :)

Thank you, this sound far better and I'll try to update inscriptions soon!
> I think the art represents a "soaring spirit" or similar
Well, I felt the same doubts... There are few other variants of the picture for Evangelist (I'll try to upload tumbnails in a few minutes) - I just thought that people can ask for specific version to be put on their paper...

Sounds like great idea - and I vaguely remember that the author of the pictures proposed something similar. I'll forward your request to her :) Though I do not think it should be such a big amount of translations :)
BTW I'm open to suggestions about other types of certificates (well, we can call it diplomas, statements of gratitude etc.)
UPD: Here are all versions of Evangelist - what do you think would it be good to allow people to choose instead forcing some single design?
I like the top right one. It looks a bit like the assassin in the game Assassin's Creed. :)
Nicolas, Hi!
You mean the fellow with a trumpet? Thank you! I'll update your certificate when I get home :)
To Guy Gervais: funny association :) Though this person do not look like "Scribe", surely we can reuse it if you'll want it :D
Well, if so, now you have two versions at hands :) I've updated the new certificates in profiles - to include picture you prefer - and to make few style changes!
There also are four versions of Benefactor
certificate - I've updated the only existing today (see above).
We do not run any active fund-raising campaigns so this is mainly to appreciate those people
who prefer financial way to appreciate us, as currently we have no clear plans of sending mugs, t-shirts
etc... :)
Iceweasel complains that the new diploma has errors but I can open it with the Gimp.
How old is the Abbey? 3?
And yes, Rodion, thank you for all your hard work. It's appreciated.

Running whois
yields:
Domain Name: CODEABBEY.COM
...
Creation Date: 2013-09-29T06:34:22Z
Though it was deployed couple weeks before to http://messcoder.sourceforge.net, so there are users registered as early as
2013-09-17
(like TestUser).
And yes, thanks a lot to you all for such a great patience and friendly help :)
